Our Story

Guthrie Jewellery is a Melbourne-based engagement ring studio specialising in lab grown diamonds and moissanite. The studio was founded by Jarod Guthrie out of frustration with the traditional diamond industry, environmental impact, opaque supply chains, inflated prices, and a culture of selling the size of the stone rather than the meaning of the ring.

The studio takes a different approach. Every ring is designed in Melbourne with the couple it's for, using stones that are traceable to the day they were grown. We pair that with fair pricing, expert craftsmanship, and the kind of consultation experience couples actually want when they're making one of the most important decisions of their relationship.

What started as a focused moissanite practice has grown into a broader studio for ethical engagement rings, lab diamonds, custom design work, and wedding bands. Same team, same Southbank studio, same approach.

What We Make

Lab grown diamonds and moissanite engagement rings. Custom design work from the first sketch to the finished ring. Wedding bands. Anniversary pieces.

Lab grown diamonds are chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds, grown in a controlled environment over a few weeks rather than mined from the earth. Moissanite is a different stone, naturally occurring in meteorites and now grown in laboratories. Both are durable, beautiful, and ethically sourced, and we sell both. Which one is right for you depends on your priorities, and we'll help you decide.

Lifetime stone warranty. Every engagement ring includes a lifetime warranty on the stone. Complimentary resizing within a reasonable size range, including return shipping both ways.

Custom design without a premium. Most of what we do is custom. Designing from scratch costs roughly the same as choosing from our ready-made range, so most clients design their own.

The Studio

Our Southbank studio is at Level 7, 80 Dorcas Street, Melbourne. By appointment only, private one-on-one sessions, with samples in most common cuts and metals available to try on. Free consultations are 30 minutes and can be booked online.

If you're not in Melbourne, we offer the same consultation by video call. Most clients we work with are remote, and the process works well over Zoom or Google Meet.

The Team

The studio is run by Jarod with support from a small specialist team: a designer who works on CAD renderings and design refinement, a manufacturing partner who produces the rings, and local Melbourne jewellers who handle repairs and resizing.

We're deliberately a small operation. The advantage is that every client works directly with the people making decisions about their ring.
